Synopsis

GANGLAND EXPRESS Inspector Soames takes Nightwing to a wasteland to finish him off. They exchange a few words and in the end Soames is apparently an honest cop who wants his town a little less corrupted so he asks Nightwing if he can do it. Nightwing agrees and Soames hands him the keys for the cuffs but Nightwing has already freed himself. Soames agrees to tell Chief Redhorn that Nightwing escaped from him using brute force and in order to make the story believable, Nightwing punches Soames in the face.  Some time later, Nightwing starts looking for a place to stay in Blüdhaven and his search leads him to the Melville Section of Town. The superintendent of the building tells Dick to look around and to come back the next day with the payment and the apartment is his. The apartment isn't much but Dick realizes that at least he can be near the "action".   At night, Nightwing starts working on the clues that Soames handed him. He arrives at a train station where he finds the same False Facers that attacked the Mihn family. Nightwing starts looking at the load of the wagons but he only sees used and old cars. He is discovered by one false facer who starts shooting at him. Nightwing knocks him down but the bullets attract the attention of a couple more of false facers. The train has already begun to move and is gaining speed. The train is entering a tunnel under one of Blüdhaven's freeways, Nightwing jumps from the train onto the freeway, and by performing an extraordinary acrobatic feat he crosses the freeway and lands a wagon ahead of the false facers and knocks them down. Nightwing is still not sure what is going on and believes that Soames is not completely honest with him.   At the Minh's residence, Soames is seen delivering back to Madame Minh her egg cells and talking to her in a friendly way.   Nightwing is busted by the entire False Face gang and so begins a confrontation that wastes the cars. The false facer with the fox mask gets into one of the cars and starts it. He crushes Nightwing and some of his fellows false facers. Nightwing punches him through the windshield and then jumps off the train as another train is coming from the opposite direction and crushes the car the "fox" was in. Nightwing escapes with one or two broken ribs.   Soames informs Redhorn about Nightwing's escape and the chief assigns Soames over to the Nightwing case until the vigilante is "out of the picture".   At his place, Reynard, the fox false facer receives a visit from one of Black Mask killers that was sent to kill Reynard. Reynard plays the fool with his killer-to-be just enough time to let him grab his weapon and kill the Black Mask's envoy. Reynard then vows to do the same with Nightwing.
